MOPA Colour Calibration Tool

Find which power / frequency / pulse-width settings give which colour on your MOPA fiber laser, from real burned-and-scanned data instead of guessing.

1. Download the calibration kit

Six LightBurn files (one per pulse width), each a dense power × frequency grid of small 6×6mm cells, built for a stainless steel test plate. An arrow + "START" mark on each file lets you re-orient the plate from any angle once it's scanned.

Download kit (.zip)

Strip any oil / zinc dip / mill scale off the plate yourself first — short pulse, high frequency, low power, one pass. A long-pulse/low-frequency "clean" pass will blacken the whole plate instead of just clearing the coating. Then load + frame + burn all six files on the same fixtured plate, same origin, one after another — don't move the plate between files.

2. Upload your scan

A flatbed scan at 600dpi gives the cleanest read; an overhead photo works but is less reliable.

Advanced: custom legend files (only if you generated your own kit with different settings)
